Generating Images From Reddit r/pics with DALL-E 2

Can we generate images based on post titles from reddit r/pics using OpenAI’s DALL-E 2? In today’s video we’re going to find out!

  1. Thanks for sharing! This is such an interesting Technology. Something so advanced that may possibly be publicly accessible will surely have a massive impact on the world. Judging by their awesome ability to tweak existing images like the sketches of a bee will be of interest to almost all artists and designers. Can’t wait to try!

  2. Would be interested to see if Dall-e could work with other imaging process models like StyleGAN2. I could see curated Dall-e generations as something which could help create training data for it at the very least.

  3. I'm really looking forwards to have DALL-E2 do variations on my own art. 25 years ago I was studying to become an illustrator but my career went a different route. This software might show me what could have been…

  4. Hey random request, just a keyboard smash. It would be interesting to see what it does when there is no context to ever exist for the caption

  5. I just recently joined the wait list, probably going to have to wait for a while, but I am very excited to see what other projects this can be used for!

  6. Interesting. It's definitely seen that first pic, I'm sure r/pics is a goldmine for training data after all. I imagine with the right wording you can tell Dall-e you're looking for the kind of thing you'd find on there too. If I remember right, GPT-3 does a good job of summarising a concept if you prompt it with "TL;DR" since it was trained on a lot of Reddit posts.

  7. 1:59 If you pertain to do analysis of results, do a bit of research before… the "lower floors" have more ancient artifacts (like the Sumerian (I think?) bas relief in the original image). The fact that Dall-e is generating marble sculptures and not the classic oil paintings the Louvre is more well-known for, solely based on adding "lower floors" to the prompt, is remarkable.

  8. I see you tried to mantain the style of each image, except for the first one (you specified watercolor).

Is it because of some weakness when trying to generate realistic looking humans?

  9. Every time I see "almost alphabets" generated by AI I feel like bugs crawling under my skin and something moving inside my body. Real uncanny feeling.

  10. you could also try to recreate album covers / images like that. I saw an example of a blue orange and it reminded me of the freakonomics podcast cover image (an apple with the inside of an orange) thats a prompt to try

  11. It would be cool to turn this into a Turing test kind of game, where you get the prompt, and then a bunch of pictures, one of which is the original and the others being DALL-E generations of the same prompt, and then having to guess which one is the original.

  12. what if you just say like generate images one can find on r/pics? or like generate a satisfying image.. would it know what 'r/pics' or 'satisfying' is? also imagine when ai becomes so good at this.. at some point we would have like Parallel versions of redit or really any website. Probably generated entertainment too.. so its like interdimensional cable almost xd

  13. I’m super curious how this will unfold over the next coming years. What do we do if this tech ends up being used nefariously? Spreading disinformation by inventing false realities

  14. 2:13 This is actually a mix of "Head of Alessandro Magno" in the Barracco museum,
his horse from his equestrian statue in Athens,
and "Perseus with the Head of Medusa" by Cellini.
None of them are in Paris, all of them are first google images results and used in textbooks all over the world.
The background might be a frieze in the Louvre though.

  15. 1:07 – “TRATR TAKTORA TRIOPARA”
I love how this image has words that could be part of some language (almost sounds Greek), showing that the AI has at least some knowledge of language in addition to images.
