Using URLs from Photos for Prompts in MidJourney for Inspiration

  1. Unsplash offers a vast collection of free images.
    • To utilize an image for your prompt in MidJourney:
      • Find an image on Unsplash.
      • Right-click and open the image in a new tab (essential for copying the URL of the image only, not the website).
      • Copy the image URL.
      • Return to MidJourney and paste the URL.
      • Optionally, write a brief explanation in the prompt. (Example given: After pasting a URL, the author wrote “pumpkin Halloween”).
      • Press return on your keyboard.
      • MidJourney generates four images using the given prompt.
  2. Comparing Original and AI-generated Images:
    • The original image from Unsplash can be compared with the MidJourney AI-generated art.
    • For instance, the original image from Unsplash was of a pumpkin for Halloween. The corresponding MidJourney AI art portrayed a spooky, Halloween-themed variation.
    • Users can upscale, variate, or remaster the generated images.
    • Upscaling and then remastering results in a sharper and more defined image.
  3. Uploading Personal Photos to MidJourney:
    • Users can also use their own photos in MidJourney.
    • Directly upload images from your computer.
      • For instance, the author uploaded an image of their dog, Alfie, a King Charles Cavalier.
      • Click on the cross where you would typically type your prompts.
      • Double-click or click on ‘upload files’ to access computer files.
      • After selecting your image, it appears in MidJourney.
      • Press return, and the image downloads.
      • Click on the downloaded image, copy its URL (remember to have it in its own tab), and paste it into your prompt.
      • Optionally, add words to complement the MidJourney image.
      • Press return, and MidJourney generates four images for the given prompt.
      • As before, users can experiment with these generated images.
