Today we check out the MidJourney AI (artificial intelligence) art creation tool! Let’s learn how to use MidJourney with this tutorial and see what we can create! I will also be giving away an invite! To enter, just be sure to like the video and comment on what you want to try as a creation phrase for MidJourney, and I will select a winner before the next live stream.

  1. As an artist I prefer Midjourneys style TBH. It's painterly outputs make good background basework. Dall-E for me is like a drunk photoshop master stitching pictures together. Mostly very incoherent and grotesque, but in a bad way.

  2. Do you think contemporary artists whose styles are being offered and used by AI should have a chance to opt out of it, and possibly paid if their unique style is being opensourced?

  3. @ 13:35 at the beginning you say its better to stay open minded just be open to what it does….. then here you are like this green tank isn't what I want!!!.. I want to be more specific.. wieghts are tools to help get whats in your head! lets face it. happy accidents are nice but having discrete control is the goal of this software.

  4. Incredible. So, just to clarify as I havent come across this untill now, can I ask this bot to create an image that is royalty free to use? Im thinking in the lines of logos/covers and/or images for music production. And is it unique every time?

  5. I’m completely new, just discovered this the other day and have been having fun! I cant wait to incorporate these new designs in some future projects! I’m hoping to learn some new awesome terminology to use before my entry’s are all used up! Just bought the basics :3

  6. Type this into the prompt "In the holes of our hearts and brains, danger waits. There are holes in the floor of the mind. Real life is messy and chaotic as hell, it's not pretty."

  7. Human artists are still way better. IA is not sentient and has a problem in making humans from imagination. Even landscapes can look strange with funny looking trees. However, if you specify the style, textures colors of the actual artist, you will get better results. I just worry about the personal data being collected and sold behind your back?

  8. I hear you that art isn't dead because of this… But the level that we are at in 2022 as opposed to 2012 is insane. I can't even begin to imagine where we will be at in 2032. When huge software companies start running these cloud computing AI generation networks we may see an arms race making better and better tools. Did Midjourney kill artists? No. But its grandchildren and great grandchildren very well may. Earlier today I stumbled across a musician's Midjourney page, and he had hundreds of attempts to make a logo to feature his and some other artists' names he works with. Prompts like "CK Logo 35mm film" and stuff like that. What about magic the gathering cards? How long until they can make new card art exclusively using AI? Will the artists they use regularly stop getting commissions? My guess is 5 years

  9. I just started messing with it.. I just wanted to say that you nailed it.. this is not going to replace polished production specific art.. but it's most powerful feature is that it can be used for amazing inspiration, concept art you can refine and make your own. I am building a game and MidJourney is helping me imagine my actors and enemies and landscapes I can describe in words and iterate quickly over so I can make them final my self just the way I need. So it's an amazing tool for inspiration and brainstorming in fraction of the time. Cheers, thanks for the tips.

  10. as someone with zero artistic talent this a game changer!! Struggled with my creative side since opening the doors of perceptioon (IYKYK) and Midjourney has really opened me up and with all your tips getting way more out of it THANK YOU ❤

  11. The way I see it as it's something that can bring your unconscious creativity to reality. It's a tool just like a paintbrush but the results are quicker and the random variability actually inspires other ideas. So cool. Imagine showing someone even from 40 years ago what this can do.

  12. As a graphic designer, it's both inspiring and incredibly useful. I know it's not "real art" but there is a certain art to finding art using an AI program. It's a skill and it takes knowledge, time, patience and a good eye to recognize what's good and bad. I hope people don't frown upon "AI" artists because I think it's a very useful tool and also a really enjoyable experience.

  13. Be very specific with your prompts, even the order of your wording is important. I'm getting better and better at getting MJ to show me what I'm thinking about, it's not impossible. Just takes practice, like any other activity. AI guidance is a new skillset, get guud!

  14. Great video, though I swear absolutely nothing I do will make things realistic at all. Every tag, every command option, realistic, photorealism, unreal engine, octane render, etc etc stacked and regenerated a hundred times they always end up looking like your average deviantart portrait art, very semi-cartoonish in colour style.

  15. Imagine if they allowed censored words..
It could introduce new art style for sure.
Maybe insiders already unlocked such feature and makes money from it..

No one likes limitations, so I expect to see another AI which allows ro create really anything.

After testing I was impressed with this style:
    pencil stippling line art

Uploaded in to internet and received much more likes, compared to my "normal" art.. Happy&Sad 2in1 ..

  16. Add also: golden ratio
So composition with dramatic effects merges for sure 😀
+I think you didnt find any correct image, because colors all the time in green..
So my suggestion to add: Vibrant
    Or for next level: lgbt
    :X
And your lab lives in 16th century

  17. can you ask midjourney not to include things? I'm trying to generate a art portraying an ancient city with people, yet people with back packs and sun glasses always seem to appear….lmao Is there a way to give it a prompt to not add certain things?

  18. This has to be one of the best tutorials for Midjourney, showing your thought process and trial/error really helps. Didn't want a long tutorial but now I'm glad I watched it.

  19. For me there is just something about Midjourney that puts it apart from the others. I am always blown away by it's ability to use such beautiful colour palettes that are not what would be considered usual yet work so well. It also has a certain sharpness and contrast to it sometimes that give images so much depth it's crazy.

  20. I'm wondering, does this have something to do with the subscription or am I doing something wrong: when I'm entering prompts, the first 4 variations I get are very small. Of course they get bigger when I click on them, but it seems yours are bigger than mine. And those 4 images get even bigger in your video when you click on "show original". In my version they are the same (small) size then, only upscaling gets me bigger versions that get even bigger shown as "original".

  21. 1:17:38 Right now there is no way to descern an AI-generated image from the one made by human.
GAN neural nets are trained in tandem: a Generator (creates fake images in attempt to approximate real ones) and Discriminator (tries to spot fake images amon the real ones).
They compete in attempt to spoof each other, until both become good.
We'd need a good Discriminator. But for any good Discriminator it's possible to make a great Generator

  22. I loved listening and watching this, thanks especially for all your thoughts on how to use this, what kind of stuff it can and cannot do, how to combine keywords, etc etc. I find that artbreeder is great for portraits and MJ for landscape/locations without people and those together absolutely work to make art for my game – even if those are placeholders

  23. Thank you so much Scott for "stating" this is a tool and does not make people artists. I am seeing people posting who are now calling themselves an Artist because they are typing commands into an AI program. They are not an artist by just using an AI to create an image. Simply put, it is a tool, as is a paintbrush, or pen, pencil, graphic program etc. I have been an artist all my life for as long as I can remember. I have created hand painted oil paintings, pencils drawings on canvas and now use graphical table. Art is created by the hand of people not a AI programed machine. Art is an expression of the person creating the image with their imagination, that is true, but the end result is in the hands. AI MidJourney and Dall-E are simply another tool. A paint brush is not art. It is simply another tool. A graphical program is not art. It is simply another tool. etc. etc. Photographical art is another creative art made by an artist and it is a true creation of an artist, captured by the camera which is the tool but is mastered by the expression. – AI image is just a generated image from many images from the internet. The reality is a AI program is creating images from images which is not art because they were already created by people. People making statements like. "Can AI replace graphical artists?" Or "Al will replace artists." Are just unrealistic statements. Collectors buy hand made art from artists because it is a rare talent. It is a given talent, not a prompted text created by a AI program. I feel the MidJourney AI, as well as Dall-E are good tools for inspiration and should never used by people to state themselves as artists by just generated an image in a AI program. People should be truthful about the fact that a AI made it. I hope people enjoy the AI programs but keep it in perspective.

  24. For some reason I get an error when I try to use –wallpaper or –ar along with –test. Is there something I need to do to enable the use of both of these parameters?

  25. I get his error when i try to use your inital prompt Invalid parameter
Multi-prompts are not currently supported with –test or –testp
/imagine secret underground lab::1, unreal engine, tank of green water in the middle::2, –ar 3:2 –test
